The city was dark and cold this night. The orange and red leaves under my foot should have crunched, but the leaves were soggy from the light drizzle that just didn't seem to stop. The brick buildings on the sides of the road blocked out most of the sky, only a black starless streak could be seen above. When I saw a sign saying 'Cawing Street' I made a turn to the left.
I could now see where I was heading, there was a sign saying 'The Dream Cabin' hanging above one of the doors to the side of the brick building. Now standing in front of the door it felt so much farther away than it did a few minutes ago, but even so i reached out and knocked on the door.
After a while an old lady opened the door, "Oh, you actually came," she said. She waved me in and pointed for me to sit down at a table. She didn't sit down. "Are you sure you want to do this?" she asked me. I nodded. She went into another room and came back with a cup containing something warm. This time she sat down on the other side of the table. "Are you really sure?" she said. Her eyes looked at me with pity. "Yes I am sure," I responded, I wasn't someone who gave up. She pushed the cup towards me. "Drink all of it," she said. I took the cup with my hand, it was warm to the touch, and I quickly drank all of it. My eyelids became heavy and I became so tired.
When my eyes opened I was in a park, there was green grass, flowers, many trees, gravel roads and a fountain the middle. It felt familiar, although I hadn't been there before. With nothing else to do I started walking in a direction. When I arrived at another fountain I stopped. The fountain was much larger than the the one I saw before, the edge was almost above my shoulders. But looking around it seemed that the world around me had grown. I climbed up on the fountain and looked in the water. Where my reflection should have been was now a small girl.
On the other side of the fountain I could see a door, but it didn't seem to be connected to anything. I jumped down from the fountain and went to the door with my now tiny legs. I reached and opened the door, behind it was a dark room. The room was filled with shelves and lockers. On the shelves laid dice with weird symbols, books without titles, vases filled with rocks and other odd objects. On the other side of the room there was another door. As I was approaching the door I noticed that I had returned to my normal size. There was a mirror next to the door but I didn't look into it.
On the door there was text that read 'BIG ROOM', all the letters where capitalized. I opened the door. The room behind the door was massive. The floor had with black and white squares, like a chess board, stretched as far as your eye could see. I placed a foot into the room and waited for something to happen. But nothing did. I continued forwards and listened for something, but the only soud came from my footsteps.
After a few minutes of walking I could hear someone crying, faintly in the distance. I turned and started running towards it. I could see a little girl sitting on the ground and crying. I sat down on the floor and said, "Everything is going to be fine." Slowly her tears stopped falling and everything became quiet.
The sound of metal hitting the floor interrupted the silence. Looking over my shoulder I could see a knife lying on the floor. I knew what I had to do. I wasn't someone who gives up. I rose up and picked up the knife. A tear fell from my eye. I turned around. The little girl had started crying again. Tears started running down my face.
I woke up in an unfamiliar room with the sun's rays shining into my eyes. It was beautiful outside. I could hear the birds singing and a tree dancing in the wind. It was beautiful outside. I was someone who gave up.
